Simple Living: "Better Off : Flipping the Switch on Technology"

This is a fun read. It is anecdotal, not scientific. It's not preachy, although I would personally like to find a book about living with less that is not written from a religious viewpoint.

There are contradictions because people are not all cut and dried, as much as we might like to try to be that way!

Eric and his new wife move to an "Amish-like" community. He calls the Minimites, which I like. How much technology is enough? And how much too much? They pretty much stripped it all away and then added it back in bit by bit to see what sat well with them. It's certainly personal choice. Me, I can do without television easily, but I'd be hard pressed to not miss my stereo and CDs.

The message I took away was to THINK. Think and consider rather than assume you need it all. Definitely a good read if you're at all interested in the less is more, voluntary simplicity, back to the earth, living the good life type of books.
