Golden Gate Gardening

I visited our local bookstore the other day. I do love the smaller independent bookstores. I admit to enjoying browsing the big chain stores as well. But I always manage to find some unique book in the smaller stores that I doubt I'd find in the larger stores, like Golden Gate Gardening. This delightful book covers local gardening to an extent I'd not seen before and it's focused on food production in the average home garden.

There are microclimate charts if you're actually in San Francisco proper and information to help you learn more about your area if you're outside the city, covering the general coastal area. The focus is on year round food production and is just chock-full of information about what to plant when and where and how much yield you can expect from each plant. Vegetables, herbs, flowers, and fruit are all covered. You'll also find information on soil, bugs, and weeds.
